Look at this glass cover below, do you find it difficult? Looking at this complicate grid printing, many glass factories will say no to it, especially the material is anti-glare glass.

The first samples of this glass cover plate were made in July,2014. After the sample was submitted, the customer placed an order for mass production of more than 2,000 pieces in just three months, which can be regarded as a super rapid mass production in the industrial control industry.

However, the results of the first mass production told us that mass production was not so easy. Because the yield of AG glass material is not high, coupled with the difficulty of printing, the yield of good product is reduced by several percents, and the yield of a final 6-inch glass cover is less than 40%. In this way, for the first time we beard many loss and hardly finished the first order.

At that time, we thought: the case is always getting easier and easier, the next time the printing technology is improved, the yield will be higher.

Fortunately, this glass cover quickly returned, but it is far from what we imagined. We clearly remembered that at the time received a call from the person in charge of the factory in the evening, he said that they didn’t want to continue to do the cover glass anymore, because the yield of AG glass raw materials is too bad, even if the printing yield is improved, There are basically no qualified products. The purchasing department communicated with the AG material manufacturer about the quality problem and requested to return and replenish the glass. However, they replied,
“Your request is too high, we can only achieve such quality standards. If it’s not ok, you can find another home.”

Forced to be unable to change optionally, the 4.0mm thickness of the AG glass is rarely produced by other manufacturers, and the delivery time is urgent, so we have no choice but to re-order a batch of raw materials, and put them into production after selecting all the materials. The number of defective products delivered in the second batch is N times more than good products.

After this time, Gelivable started to fear to receive the case again. It can be predicted that in the subsequent batches of production, the dispute with the AG manufacturers and the production line workers complaint is extremely painful. Finally, at the end of 2015, at this time, AG glass made in USA passed the verification of all aspects of Gelivable, and we couldn’t wait to apply to the customer to change to the USA AG glass material. The customer quickly recognized our newly submitted samples. Thus, the case was successfully changed to the USA AG glass.

Now, this glass cover is one of the most enjoyable products we have produced. We received orders from our customers, produced them by order, and delivered as scheduled. The average yield of this glass is up to 85%.

More subtly, I can’t help but feel a sense of pride at the sight of it everywhere I go on business trips, whether it’s used in the card-swiping machines of Australia metro or the vending machines of Thailand. If not so successful to produce the AG cover glass, we may feel sad when we see the glass every time. Thankfully, every time we encounter it, we are proud to take a photo.

Follow Gelivable, more interesting sequels will be updated later.
